Consider this my notice

April 18, 2018

DON'T ASK THE WORLD IF YOU CAN BE GREAT. GIVE THE WORLD NOTICE THAT YOU WILL BE.

Many times we allow outside influence to determine the actions we take. Or we allow outside influence to persuade us or even cause us to procrastinate.

When we do this we are giving away our personal power to the world / others.

Consider this blog post my notice to the world. I am here for greatness. I am unstoppable.

It is easy to say this but how do we actually follow through and do it?

Do you ever find yourself saying things like "he just brings out the worst in me", or "she ruined my day with her bad attitude"? Or have you ever wanted to start a new career, maybe in real estate, and someone close to you said, "that's risky because it's not guaranteed pay and you only make money when the market is good"?  And when they said this it planted a seed in your mind that grew roots over the next few days than then turned into a strong belief of, "maybe this isn't the best decision for me at this time in my life". Sound familiar?

Giving away your personal power robs you of your mental strength and robs you from becoming the person you truly are on this earth to become.

Making a conscious choice to take back your personal power is key to being in control in your life. But before you can create positive change, you need to recognize the ways in which you're giving your power away.

Below are 9 ways to keep your personal power:

  1. Stop wasting energy complaining.

Recognize when you are complaining VS problem solving. Complaining not only implies you have no power over your situation, but also shows you lack power over your attitude. Complaining also keeps you focused on the problem and prevents you from creating a solution.

  2. Accept responsibility

Don't let other people's behavior dictate your emotions. Accept that it's completely up to you to manage your emotions, regardless of how other people behave.

  3. Raise your standards (communication)

Giving in to others gossip, guilt trips, and excuses gives power to other people. Rather than blame others for wasting your time or forcing you to do something or be in a conversation you don't like, recognize that you're in charge of yourself. Establish standards that give you control over how you spend your time and whom you spend it with and let it be known.

  4. Forgiveness
When you waste valuable time thinking about a person you feel wronged you, it takes away your ability to enjoy the moment.  Someone once told me, "not forgiving someone is like drinking poison and wishing the other person would die". Unforgiveness only hurts you!

Forgiving someone is the best way to take back your power. But to be clear, forgiveness isn't about saying what the person did was OK. Instead, it's about choosing to let go of the hurt and anger that interferes with your ability to enjoy life.

  5. Have clear values
If you are not clear on your personal values then it is very likely that you will be led astray by others ideas and beliefs.  Take back your power by acknowledging your values and living true to what's important to you.

  6. 90 second rule
Have you ever been upset over something that seemed big in the moment but after time passed it didn't seem so big? Was it a bad day or a bad 5 minutes? When we do this we are giving our power away to things that don't deserve it. Take 90 seconds to vent, get over it and move on. Take control over the thoughts that occupy your mind so you don't give more energy these areas again.

  7. Drop all victim mentality
Victim mentality is not only a way of thinking it is also part of the language that we speak.  For example, when we say, "I have to make 50 calls today", or "I have to show homes today" or "I have to go to the office".  This type of language infers you're a victim of unfortunate circumstances.  Using this type of language creates habits that give away your power to circumstance.

  8. Create a high level of self worth
If your self worth is determined by others you will most likely become a people pleaser.  Not everyone will like you or agree with you and they don't need to.  If everyone was the same the world would be a very boring place.  Never allow other people's opinions to determine your self-worth.

  9. Be disruptive
Wanting to blend in is another way of giving away your personal power.  This will disguise who you really are and who you were created to become.  Trust that you are unique and that you have something to offer the world that no one else has, and go for it. Stand out from the crowd. Take massive initiative.

The world will doubt you.  The world will speak it's fears, faults, and failures on you.
Don't accept that!
